You and I both know that the introduction of computers into some complex human activities constitutes an irreversible commitment. This commitment exacts a price: a constant bombardment with electronic communications, e.g. e-mail. The resulting information overload, when coupled with a loss in productivity or a feeling of loss of control, is known as infomania. You may even admit to suffering from this phenomenon.
“The problem of infomania is a major productivity killer and makes countless people miserable. Something has to be done.” Nathan Zeldes | principal engineer at Intel | a driving force behind the Information Overload Research Group
Together we can do something about it.
The first step towards solving a problem is admitting that you have one. The second step is researching the possible solutions. Step three is finding a solution and step four is applying that solution.
If you - like most people - have a nagging feeling (step one) that you are drowning in your e-mail and suspect that there has to be a better way to do it (step two), then you have found step three: E-Mail Redux.
The solution to a problem you don’t even want to admit you have.
Step four is up to you.
